ColdFusion 8 Web Hosting

On 30 May 2007 Adobe announced availability of ColdFusion 8 public beta.

Fast Hit Web Hosting will be one of the first web hosting companies to release production CF 8 Hosting plans when ColdFusion 8 becomes available. Stay tuned – the developments will be posted on this blog
and Fast Hit’s News Page.

If you’d like a free ColdFusion 8 Hosting account while it’s still in Beta, please let us know at support@fasthit.net

There some really cool features in this new ColdFusion 8 version:

  • Server monitoring to help identify server bottlenecks, allowing
    for tuning and improved performance.
  • Step through code debugging in a new Eclipse plug-in debugger.
  • Adobe Flex™ and Ajax features that let ColdFusion power personalized,
multimedia-rich applications to enhance users’ experiences on
    the web.
  • High-quality, dynamically created on-demand multimedia presentations.
  • PDF document and form integration for a printable, portable way
to intelligently capture and share information.
  • Image creation and manipulation with more than 50 new CFML tags
    and functions.
  • Native support for .NET objects to easily integrate ColdFusion
applications with enterprise data and infrastructure services.
  • Significant application runtime and server performance improvements.

Web 2.0 Hosting

What is web 2.0 hosting? The web 2.0 buzz is propagating into the hosting industry, with more and more companies now claiming that they offer “Web 2.0 Hosting“. What is it anyway? What are the web 2.0 – specific hosting features? What would you like to see in Fast Hit’s web hosting plans that would make your web 2.0 life easier?

2LD .au Community Geographical Domain Names

Not very many of us aware that Australian community geographical domain names are now available – one can register a domain in the following zones (without the usual .com.au / .net.au stuff) – act.au, nsw.au, nt.au, qld.au, sa.au, tas.au, vic.au, wa.au These domains are “…solely for the purpose of operating a community website developed for the benefit of the entire local community.” This web site has all the info: http://www.aucd.org.au/

Fast Hit is supporting one of such community projects which is planned to be launched this Friday: http://www.armadale.wa.au/

This sounds like a great idea, but the time will show if community projects can be self sustainable in that way.

At this stage only one web site appears to accept live registrations for $164 AUD for 2 yrs.
