In order to improve network accessibility, we moved one of our DNS servers and backup mail server to Brisbane. This is a seamless change that doesn’t require any changes in web hosting account settings (as the DNS servers are referenced by the hostname and not the IP).
So, currently Fast Hit has 3 DNS servers:
- host-dns1 in Brisbane
- host-dns2 in Perth
- host-dns3 in Dallas, USA.

If you are looking for a greater flexibilty with your hosting account – we now have a solution – take a look at Fast Hit’s VPS hosting plans. A web hosting account can now be put inside a VPS (Virtual Private Server) for total security. You will also have a root or administrator access to your “server” that will allow you to configure the machine the way you want and install any program you like. ColdFusion inside VPS is not yet available, but we’re testing it. There a few customers who put each of their clients inside a separate VPS for greater flexibility.
VPS = Virtual Private Server is based on Virtuozzo which creates isolated, secure virtual environments (VEs) on a single physical server enabling better server utilization, ensuring guaranteed resources and preventing applications from conflicting. Each VE performs and executes exactly like a stand-alone server.
Each VPS can be rebooted independently and have users, IP addresses, processes, system libraries and configuration files. The system comes with an additional control panel that allows you to…
- Install any program you like
- Do full or incremental backups
- Check your bandwidth use
- Reboot your system
- Start/stop your system (including starting your system when it’s down)
- Change/retrieve your password
- Reinstall/repair your system
- Monitor resources used (bandwidth, memory, disk)
- Monitor and manipulate services
- Monitor and manipulate individual processes
- Open an SSH connection to your server
- View activity logs
- Move the system to a dedicated server without any downtime
That’s it! Give Fast Hit a call if you’d like to try it out.
