BarCamp is an “‘unconferece’ where those that attend are also encouraged to present and participate during the informal presentations and workshops.”
There seems to be a lot of people here - attending the presentation classes, live blogging, taking picture and more. What a great idea, it should have more leading up publicity.
I went to the first meeting “M-learning” (as opposed to “E-Learning”). M-learning stands for mobile learning. Learing with the help of a pda or a laptop, if you’re wireless in the middle of nowhere. Mobile technology seems to be where the internet was ten years ago. It’s not always taken seriously, a lot of people still think that it’s only used for games. But more technoloty is coming out all the time and it will be interesting what [development] software will take a stronghold in this market. At the moment everyone seem to have their own thing.
The other meeting I went to was “Second Life in Education“. This is quite interesting - virtual learning opportunities are quite amazing, uniting people around the world into one classroom.. This this out - a Second Life campus at the University of Ohio:

Ave, my gentleman
I believe that we will succeed. I believe that we will take the non-sinking sheep of love and will go far away to the ocean, on the waves of unopened passions, we will open the doors of wishes and dreams which never happened yet… You should know that there is a lady in this world, I am here for you, and for me your name is not just an empty sound, for me you are a man who will always be gentle and caring with me. Let the memories of me come to you each time you read my words, I still believe that I can be happy and that you will reply to my brave letter for you at [http://web address here…] And I will write my letters to you and will greet you: Hello, My Destiny! It’s me again!

What is web 2.0 hosting? The web 2.0 buzz is propagating into the hosting industry, with more and more companies now claiming that they offer “Web 2.0 Hosting“. What is it anyway? What are the web 2.0 - specific hosting features? What would you like to see in Fast Hit’s web hosting plans that would make your web 2.0 life easier?
Not very many of us aware that Australian community geographical domain names are now available - one can register a domain in the following zones (without the usual .com.au / .net.au stuff) - act.au, nsw.au, nt.au, qld.au, sa.au, tas.au, vic.au, wa.au These domains are “…solely for the purpose of operating a community website developed for the benefit of the entire local community.” This web site has all the info: http://www.aucd.org.au/
Fast Hit is supporting one of such community projects which is planned to be launched this Friday: http://www.armadale.wa.au/
This sounds like a great idea, but the time will show if community projects can be self sustainable in that way.
At this stage only one web site appears to accept live registrations for $164 AUD for 2 yrs.
Eleven of Australia’s second-tier telcos and Internet service providers have banded together to fight against what they describe as a “campaign of misinformation” by Telstra on the subject of telecommunications regulation.
Telstra: The Government is stifling broadband investment. If government and regulators don’t allow the next wave of Internet investment, Australia will be left behind … as our global competitors work even smarter and faster.
Australia is already behind.. because of Telstra, not the government. I think it’s about time we see some collective action in Australia. Telco’s monopolies never worked in other countries and only resulted in hight prices, IT mafia and a total halt to the development. It’ll be interesting to see the outcome.
I just did a search on Google for Plesk Reseller Hosting and discovered that there aren’t actually a lot of companies that actually do it. There are H-Sphere Reseller Hosting (including http://fasthit.net ), and a LOT of cPanel/WHM reseller hosting accounts. Why not Plesk?
If you use Plesk or know of someone who does, please let us know what you like about it. We’ll post the links and your feedback at http://pleskresellerhosting.net/
Here at Fast Hit we often get calls with people saying, “Oh, our web site doesn’t work, we get could not connect error”! This often happens with web sites that just were moved to a new IP and the computer has the old IP cached in the DNS.
So, how about trying to clear the DNS cache (of flash DNS cache)? It’s easy.
In Microsoft Windows, you can use the command ipconfig /flushdns to flush the DNS resolver cache.
You can also use the command ipconfig /displaydns to view the DNS resolver cache.
C:\>ipconfig /flushdns
C:\>ipconfig /displaydns
In Mac OSX, you can use the command lookupd -flushcache to flush the DNS resolver cache.
bash-2.05a$ lookupd -flushcache
If still doesn’t work, try rebooting your computer and your router!
